Provincial Perinatal Advisory Committee

Terms of Reference

 

 

1.0 Purpose:

The purpose of the Provincial Perinatal Advisory Committee is to advocate for perinatal health issues within the province of BC and to guide work being done by the program to optimize neonatal, fetal and maternal health in British Columbia. The committee will provide advice, direction and facilitate communication through a variety of provincial perinatal networks.

2.0 Authority

The committee is accountable to the Provincial Health Services Authority through the executive sponsor responsible for the BC Perinatal Health Program, and the committee chair.

3.0 Mandate

3.1  To assist with the identification of perinatal health issues and challenges within the population.

3.2  To oversee the development and implementation of a program strategic plan.

3.3  To identify and assist with communication to key clinical, administrative, research, and academic stakeholders in order to advance positive perinatal outcomes and the mandate of the program.

3.4  To provide direction and advice on policy, strategic directives and clinical recommendations being implemented by the program through the province.

3.5  To facilitate and promote standardization of best practices throughout the province.

3.6  To steward the quality, utilization, and security of the perinatal database.

3.7  To agree to contribute expertise and advice to various program committees and task groups as required.

3.8 To represent BCPHP at provincial and national meetings as requested.

    • appointed by College of Nursing

    • Perinatal Administrative Head(medical, nursing, administration)

5.0 Meetings

5.1 Chair will ensure scheduling of meetings and the distribution of agenda.

5.2 Decisions are made through consensus. If consensus cannot be reached, decisions will be made through voting with a majority of those present

 

6.0 Documentation

6.1 The maintenance of the minutes, agenda and other documentation related to the committee is the responsibility of the Committee Chair.

All action items are to be brought forward at subsequent meetings. It is the responsibility of the Committee to keep a bring-forward list. It is the responsibility of the Chair to ensure follow-up takes place for all action items. All action items are to be brought forward at subsequent meetings
